My Life as a Psychic – review
My Life as a Psychic, by Gavin Cromwell
Gavin Cromwell is a clever and charming witch practicing in Wales. By the time he reached his 30s, he’d already enjoyed a series of careers.
In this book, he talks about his childhood and young adult years, and the challenges of showcasing his unique gifts in a world that doesn’t always understand him.
Parents will appreciate this book because it provides insights into the mind of a psychic child in a predominantly non-psychic world.
As a whimsical and sometimes lyrical — not literal — reflection on Gavin Cromwell’s past, this book is a page-turner. Gavin is also a gifted artist, and his illustrations reveal idealized views that don’t always match our mundane, everyday world.
I first reviewed My Life as a Psychic in 2008. Then and now, it’s a fascinating book covering a wide range of topics, told in the context of an autobiography.
However, since my initial review, uncomfortable questions were raised about the business side of Gavin’s life. Like many people who’ve met him, I don’t know what to believe.
I look forward to Gavin’s next career move, and hope he’ll achieve the happiness and success he so clearly yearns for. He’s someone who doesn’t need a facade. His natural talents are far more endearing and enduring than he may realize. They’re what really shine in this book.
